Why these. They come from two waves of protest, in July and in October 2026, and involve the same question: who authorised what the state did. The authority structures behind them differ: Delhi sits under a Union-administered police force, the others under state governments. The October incidents are kept apart from the July ones because the Supreme Court's order of 1 September is reported to cover only the protests of 20 to 25 July.
